Building a Real Life: Happy Halloween Edition!
Parent Mode Engaged
Halloween Joy, Parent Mode
Hello hello thirsty friends, it’s Halloween! I’m hyped up but not for my own trick-or-treating, but for taking my kids out in our neighborhood. I love a street full of spooky decorations and neighbors all in on the fun, passing out sweets. This year, my wife looked the other way and let me fill the bowl with the “bad stuff” Skittles, gummy bears, nerds. Total throwback stomachache. That’s the magic of Halloween.
Boundaries, Parenting, and Candy
Now, we’re not “cool parents”. Our kids don’t binge the whole haul. They get a few treats and that’s it. No shame, no viral videos, just loving boundaries. Kids aren’t just our buddies; we watch out for their minds and bodies. They get a taste of the fun, but not the meltdown.
Holiday Season: Jumping Into Cheer
Tomorrow is my favorite day—the start of Christmas season. We’re already shopping (pro tip: don’t wait till December) to save stress and give ourselves a little peace. Holidays can trigger anyone, old memories, old wounds, pressure piling up. If you feel that? You’re not alone.
Solve for Peace (and Practice Your Boundaries)
I’m soaking up wisdom from Dr. John Delony (“solve for peace” is his mantra). This season, set boundaries to bring yourself peace. Not to control others, not to people please but to protect yourself and your joy. Boundaries aren’t easy; they require hard, honest, calm conversations. It’s hardest with family, but worth it. Most of us weren’t taught this; we’re learning together.
Identify what boundary you need. Most of us don’t even realize we deserve one, or don’t want to rock the boat. Practice. Give yourself permission to be kind to yourself.
Holiday CPG Wish Lists & Thirsty Friends Cheer
Who knows what snacks or drinks will be the hit under the Christmas tree? I’m rooting for new hydration brands, wellness gummies, and…let’s be honest, probably a LOT of protein. Let’s share wish lists, favorite trends, holiday hype.
Whether you celebrate everything or nothing… enjoy Halloween, savor Thanksgiving, wish for Christmas joy. Reflect, set boundaries, and aim for peace as we close out 2025 and race into 2026.
Stay thirsty, friends.
